Vitamin D

Vitamin D is an essential nutrient that helps regulate the amount of calcium and phosphate in our bodies- very important for keeping bones, teeth and muscles healthy!

In the UK between October and March we don’t make enough Vitamin D from sunlight which is why it is suggested we take a Vitamin D supplement during this period of time.

Children from aged 1 to 4 years old and also babies who are having less than 500mls of infant formula, should take a Vitamin D supplement all year round.

There are a lot of studies out there that suggest low levels of Vitamin D are likely to mean a higher risk of sleep disturbances, poor quality sleep and less sleep overall too.

Check with your midwife, health visitor or GP to be sure what amount they recommend for your little one.
