Why Is Sleep So Important?
Sleep is important for babies and adults alike. In fact the below applies to everybody.
Muscle Repair: Muscles repair when we rest, especially when we are asleep so from your baby lifting a toy to you lifting your baby, without sleep our muscles would not get a chance to replenish, recover and get stronger.
Cell Restoration: The rules apply as above, but this goes for all the cells in the body.
Brain Structure Grows: Our Brains are always working and developing, but without the downtime of sleep they can be affected. Sleep deprivation will take it’s toll.
Consolidation Of Knowledge: Knowledge is power, powered by sleep.
Supports Learning And Memory: Its always harder to understand something when we are tired, also to take the information in, after all we are not machines, we need rest.
Improve Mood And Concentration: One of the biggest influence on anybody’s mood is sleep, this goes for our little ones too.
Growth Hormones Are Released: OK, this one does not apply so much to adults, but for babies its vital to help them grow.
Supports Immunity: Like us, when we are run down we are more susceptible to becoming ill, this goes for little ones too. Our bodies are best placed to fight when well rested… that is why we are always told to rest when we feel ill, if we get the chance!
